Meet the amazing Zimbabwean-British beauty Nía also known as Frogirlginny who is the owner and the founder of the natural hair movement #HappyFroDay.

Who is Niá?
Nia is a free spirit girl who is in love with the world. I am a Gemini so it is said we have different personalities, I just have different parts of me; some I share with the world; some I don’t. It makes things more magical.

Tell us about your movement #HappyFroday and the idea behind it?
Happy Froday is a day to celebrate the beauty of all natural hair. Since embarking on my natural hair journey I found that so many people were categorising themselves and instead of us coming together, it is now a competition. I want women to celebrate their differences and empower each other.

How would you describe your inner beauty?
Cutting off my silky straight hair which was what I thought was beautiful made me recreate myself so I got in touch with my inner soul. I think the ability which I have to accept my flaws and embrace them is what makes me beautiful.

What do you love about your beauty?
I love that after spending so many years of being afraid of my natural hair my flaws I am now able to embrace them and share that with the world.

What do you love the most when it comes to your beautiful hair?
I love how big and fluffy it can be! It is my best accessory, it gets bigger each day and it is my mane. It is full of love.

What three things would you recommend for women with curly/coily hair?
Giving your hair love, this could be products or general care. I know how confusing it can be for women with natural hair to find products; it’s all about trial and error!
I recommend a great leave in conditioner to really give you essential oils. And of course my love; the Afro pick! It is a gem to giving you big curls.

What three things would you not recommend women with curly/coily hair?
Stay away from heat, chemicals and anything which is designed to change your natural hair.

Four years ago, Versatility Beauty&Fashion interviewed the famous natural hair stylist Felicia Leatherwood. One of the questions Versatility Beauty&Fashion asked her was what she thought about the trend amongst women with coily or curly hair becoming natural. She responded that in her perspective becoming natural is not a trend, but more as a movement. Do you agree or disagree with Felicia Leatherwood statement about becoming natural is a movement?
Awwh I love Felicia!! I agree that it is a movement of solidity and power!

There has been a lot of discussions about why there most be one type of ideal beauty. Since 2013 the ideal of woman’s body is to look strong and therefore the new ideal of beauty is ”Strong is the new skinny”. Versatility Beauty&Fashion is pro-health and believes that working-out is the best medicine you can give to your body and soul.  But some women misunderstand the ideal and work out too much that they hurt themselves. Instead of taking a break to let their injury fully heal; they take pills to counteract the injury to sustain their work out in fear of gaining weight! What are your thoughts about today’s attitude of the ”new” ideal of body?
Wow! I definitely think our bodies are so sacred in the sense that it is yours. We may not all have an image of beauty but who created that image? Create your own! If you don’t love your body, no-one will. I used to want to be skinny like high fashion models but I realised, I wasn’t going to have that. Instead I decided to embrace everything about my body!

How often do you work out/ how often do you think one should work out to feel good?
I jog once a week on a Sunday and I love a dance workout with 90’s music playing. Dancing is a great way of working out as you are having too much fun to feel the burn. I am more cautious of what I eat, my Mum is starting a new healthy eating journey so she makes the most delicious smoothies and it’s inspiring me to stop eating junk! I am also very good friends with a vegan; Mrs Millis! She has amazing recipes for being healthy and enjoying what you eat.

Versatility Beauty&Fashion has started the Healthy movement with Versatility Beauty&Fashion 2015, where we want to inspire women around the world to set goals for achieving healthy hair, healthy body and healthy soul(inner beauty) this year of 2015.
